Help for Haiti

WOW!! The pictures, stories and video I have seen on the Haiti earthquake literally hurts my heart. I have been to Haiti with my parents back in 1980 while on a cruise. The island is beautiful but very poor. Friendly islanders raising families, trying to provide for little ones, with barely enough to eat and drink. While on our trip we met several natives. One family in particular stands out in my mind. A young mother and her 2 children. We talked with them as they tried to entice tourists to buy trinkets and seashells- no doubt trying to make enough money for their dinner that evening. Though I know the children have grown to adults, I still wonder and think about that family. Are they alive? Have they eaten? Do they have water? Are they in pain? Haiti may be a broken island but the spirit of the people to survive is anything but broken.
I have a question for you- what have you done to help? Reflect on how lucky you are to live in a home or apartment, have electricity, clean water, sheets for your bed and clothes to wear not to mention food. The people of Haiti and Port-au-Prince don’t even have the basics. They desperately need our help. Join me in helping the families of Haiti- donate in the name of your family- just text the word “Haiti” to 90999. Your cell phone will be billed and you will know that your donation can make a difference.
Thank you for listening and thank you for donating,
Summer
